Parkes RFI Studies - Parkes International Freight Terminal

The Sir Henry Parkes International Airport Freight Terminal project is a plan to turn the existing Parkes airport into an international freight terminal, satisfying the needs for an inland port, for freight distribution, both domestically, and internationally. The development of such a facility has obvious concerns for the operations of the observatory, in terms of RFI. The observatory is working with the proponents of the development, to ensure that the development of the airport, and future operations, will have minimal impact on the operations of the observatory. To this end, Parkes Observatory will contribute to the development of a detailed Environmental Management Plan (EMP), including the Radio Frequency Environment, by the airport development proponents.
