The ``HIPASS Bright Galaxy Catalog''

• Col(1,2) = HIPASS name (HIPASS Jhhmm-dd; A,B,C if needed)
• Col(3,4) = HIPASS center position in RA, DEC (J2000)
  (obtained from a Gaussian fit (using imfit) to the 0th moment map of each source)
• Col(5,6) = HIPASS center position in Galactic longitude and latitude: l, b (in degrees)
  
• Col(7) = optical identification from NED, when available
  : - no previous velocity measurement
  e - extended source,
  c - confused source,
  w - wrong optical velocity,
  r - on ripple (order = 5)
  h - Hanning smoothing (hann = 3)
  

  The current HI parameters have been obtained with the program mbspect in miriad. For most sources we assumed a point source distribution. Very extended sources (marked with e) have been re-measured.

• Col(8) = HI peak flux in Jy
• Col(9) = clipped rms in mJy
• Col(10) = integrated HI flux density (0. moment) in Jy km/s
• Col(11) = HI heliocentric systemic radial velocity (vsys₅₀) in km/s (optical convention)
• Col(12) = 50% HI velocity width in km/s, w₅₀
• Col(13) = 20% HI velocity width in km/s, w₂₀
• Col(14) = Local Group velocity (v_LG) in km/s, v_LG = vsys₅₀ + 300 * sin(l) * cos(b)
• Col(15) = log of HI mass in M_sun, where M_HI = 2.36 10⁵ D² F_HI
• Col(16) = Reference name, linked to the output from mbspect

Notes:

• HI parameters for the Magellanic Clouds will be listed separately.

• NGC5793 is only seen in HI absorption and not included in this list

• The distance is calculated using D = v_LG / H_o, we adopt a Hubble constant of H_o = 75 km s^-1 Mpc^-1
